About the Author, Shelley Bernhard
A Real Mother is Shelley Bernhard’s first publication. Her interests include music, books, writing, travel, meeting new people, and children’s rights. The author resides in Colorado with her husband and their little dog, Charlie. I clearly feel that the person who makes a lifelong commitment to raising a child, in a healthy and loving way, is the real mother. Since children, for the most part, are shaped by their parents, it is never too early for a child to learn and read about some of the many things that go into being a mother. I hope to be a voice for the many women who have the experience and privilege of raising a child.
This book is my expression of how I view motherhood.

A Real Mother continues tobe thought of as the female who gives birth. Although, that is often the case, it is certainly not always true. With this book, I hope to be a voice for the many women who have had the experience and privilege of raising a child, whether or not they gave birth to that child.
